Course Summary:
How is Democracy Reflected in the Three Branches of the American System of Government? In this course, students will study the fundamental concepts of the American political system, including its foundations, structures and political behavior. Emphasis is also placed on the role of the citizen in a democratic society. The course concludes with a study of Illinois government, and the role of local governments in the American system. Successful completion of this course satisfies the US and Illinois Constitution graduation requirement.

Unit 3 – The Legislative Branch
Unit 4 – The Executive Branch
Unit 5 – The Judicial Branch
Unit 6 - The Justice System (optional unit)
