Course Summary:
This course is intended to be equivalent to an introductory college-level course in Western Civilization. The program is designed to prepare students for the Advanced Placement Examination in European History if the student feels up to the challenge. The course surveys the history of Europe from the Renaissance to the present. The focus is on political, social, diplomatic, economic and scientific history. Students should have a strong interest in the subject and a strong aptitude in history.
Course Outline:
Please note, this outline is only an estimate. This is the first time this course is using the McKay textbook, and so how far we move actually depends largely on you. We may move slower, or faster, depending on the knowledge and skill level of the class. However, it is likely impossible that we will get through all chapters of the curriculum in one school year. Therefore, we will likely combine units on more than one occasion.
